Today: Learn how to tell your story.
Your LinkedIn profile page only tells so much about you! LinkedIn has become a much more personal and genuine platform than in past years. Thankfully, it's acceptable and encouraged to show who you are.
Not just what your resume, professional profile, or CV says you are. We are all much more than that and it's important to let your network see that.
One of the most popular recent examples of this is the #LetsGetHonest campaign led by Michaela Alexis, Josh Fechter and Manu Goswami. This campaign resulted in a global viewership of over 26 million and solidified the changing tides of this platform.
Initiatives like this and the continued moves by content creators toward a more personable approach show that opening up and being yourself is extremely important in developing a personal brand.
So today we are challenging you to write a post about yourself. It's a free opportunity to tell the world who you are, where you came from, and what you're doing.
Think about it as a podcast interview, what questions might the host ask you to let the listeners get to know you?
Ben Rea's LinkedIn Focus initiative highlights community members through storytelling. Read through a couple of his posts to get an idea of how your story might be able to be presented.
Here are some questions to ask yourself when writing your story:
- What is your personal and/or professional mission?
- Do you have any causes or projects you care deeply about?
- What are you looking to gain through creating content on LinkedIn?
- How has your past influenced where you are now or where you are going?
